Last night Miles went to dinner with his brother and a friend of theirs who is moving soon to California. Elle and I picked up a pizza from Fireside Pies and hung out at home. She had a really good night and was acting sleepy around 8 so I started our routine of walking her around the house. This has been the routine since she was a few weeks old. The child really fights sleep and we never were able to do the "cry it out" method so the only thing that has worked is to walk her around. It works like a charm now and only takes about 10 minutes until she is asleep. Well, last night she fought for about an hour.....I laid her down 3 times and she kept waking up so I finally just left her in her crib because she did not seem very tired anymore. She played with her favorite stuffed animal (a sock piggy) and played a game of "try to put the paci in my mouth" for about 30 minutes. All along I was watching her on the monitor cracking up at her "talking" and trying to conquer the paci game. I left the monitor for a while and got on the computer. When I came back she had fallen asleep with paci in hand and her other arm wrapped around piggy. So precious! This was a big moment for her!! I marked the date in her book as the first time to put HERSELF to sleep. I know this may not be a big deal to some, but it is a momentous day for Miles and I!! Our arms need a break :) I texted Miles to share the news and he replied "she is BG-ing it". Translation: What a big girl (BG) our Elle is becoming!
