Saturday night we went to dinner with friends of ours from college. Mark and Marianna and Jenna and Clancy. Mark, Clancy and Miles played baseball together at Texas Tech. We live about half an hour away from them but do not get to see them as much as we would like. It was a fun night, without kiddos! We laughed a lot and enjoyed catching up.
Mark talked about how he was running the Rock n Roll half marathon the next morning. We all joked about it but were glad he and his brother got to do this together. It was the first time Mark has run one but his brother had done it many times before.
The next day, Miles really thought about going to see Mark cross the finish line, but had a lot of work to do on the remodel so decided against it. I got a call from Jenna yesterday afternoon with news that still seems unreal. She told me that Mark had crossed the finish line but collapsed right after. He was gone. I do not have details just that they revived him once and got his heart beating again but lost him a second time.
His precious wife is one of my favorite people in this world. Their girls are precious Isabella, 3 1/2 and Anna, 1. Please pray for these girls. This is such a shock and they need strength to get through the worst time in their lives. Our hearts break for them. Please tell the ones you love how you feel about them and live your life to the fullest everyday. This was an amazing man, father and husband who LOVED life.
Mark and Marianna are in the middle with the two girls
