Everything went smoothly once we arrived. The epidural was nothing like I remember with Elle. I was having pretty severe contractions when I got one with her so getting one without being in pain was very different. It was very uncomfortable but I felt great once it was in.
The surgery went well though I felt so much pressure in my chest when they were pulling him out. Once I heard him cry and the doctors tell me what a big boy he was, I was overcome with so much emotion. Getting to see him and kiss his cheeks for the first time was one of the best moments in my life.
We went into recovery and Elle was able to come in and meet her brother. What a moment that was. She seemed excited but a little confused. The rest of our clan came in shortly after. Gigi, Grandpa Rich, Mimi, and Pa. It was an emotional time for all of us!
The nurses took Beck to be weighed and cleaned up while I went to my room. He was a whopping 8 lbs. 8 ounces and 20 1/4 inches long. No wonder I was in pain daily!
We had a wonderful hospital stay. The nurses let me sleep as much as possible. Beck is a fantastic eater and seems so laid back. I know this can change at anytime though :)
Elle has been very sweet to him but has had a hard time adjusting to sharing her parents. Miles is usually with her while I am with Beck. I know this is only temporary and that she will learn to share her parents with Beck one of these days. My heart hurts for her though.
We are so in love with our little boy! It is incredible how your heart can love two children so very much. We love you Robert Beck Durham!
