elle after having her blood pressure taken

Poor baby and her hurt eye

We had a CRAZY week (last week) at the Durham house. And if you were to ask Elle where she lived, she would not be too sure what to tell you! We sold our house and it was official on Thursday. The days leadig up to the closing were pretty chaotic as we tried to get everything out of our old house and into the house we are renting for 3 months. I will back track...we remodeled our house knowing we were going to put it on the market once it was finished. It was on the market for 4 months and then we got the contract. We were so excited since the market is not so great. We put in an offer on a house one street over that we want to remodel. They accepted after lots of back and fourth and now we are hoping to close on it in two weeks. In the mean time, we are renting a house for 3 months so we do not have to live through another remodel. It was just way too hard on us, mainly Elle and I :) Since Miles now is working for a commercial building company, I am going to have to run the remodel job. I am a little nervous, but am ready to get started.
Elle is a speed demon latley and hurting herself several times a day. She fell on the concrete and hurt her hand early in the week. I thought it was just a scratch but a day later her nail was blue and her finger was swollen. I made an appointment to take her in on Friday but as I was driving to the doctors office my "coolant low stop slowly" light came on. I had just got the coolant filled earlier in the day b/c the light came on and thought all was good. Well, I thought there must be something wrong with the light and not the coolant but NOPE! It was bone dry again. I had to cancel Elle's appt and take my car in so that I did not ruin my motor. Come to find out the hose was busted so they had to order the part and sent me away with a loaner. Poor Elle didn't get her finger looked at but I promised her we would be there on Monday :)
So, that night, when Miles came home, we were all playing on the couch. The next thing we know Elle is screaming from poking her eye with her finger. No big deal right? Uh no...not my little girl! We found ourselves perplexed and scared after 4 hours of non stop screaming. We decided we needed to take her to the ER since we had never seen her this way. Both eyes were swollen shut from crying so hard but she wouldn't open her left eye at all (the poked eye).
We get to Children's Hospital and ended up waiting for 4 hours until the doctor actually saw us. It was the most misserable 4 hours of all of our lives. Elle screamed the entire time. It was so sad to witness. The doctor finally showed and checked her eye for a laceration. Sure enough she had a pretty large one on her cornia. We were given some ointment and told to give her tylenol is she seemed to be in pain. We arrived home at 2 am and put Elle to bed. She woke again at 3 and was pretty fussy. After she finally got to sleep we crashed. She seemed so much better the next morning and we went on to have a pretty good weekend considering how tired we all were.
So, I think all is going to go smoothly this week. Well, not so much! I took Elle to the doctor on Monday to follow up with the eye ordeal and also get her finger looked at. She also had started sniffling and sneezing so I wanted to get her looked at for that as well. I got a lecture from her doctor about the finger. She told me I should have brought her in sooner. I explained that I had tried but there was no sympathy there. Her eye looked fine but she had come down with a cold so she got on meds for that as well as for her finger. The rest of the day went well. I wish I could say the same for today! It started out great. I went and picked up my car from the dealership and then we ran some errands. I went by Whole Earth and got Elle some Crocks. The are so cute!! We went to pay for those and a puzzle but I had just brought by wallet in and not my entire bag. I realized I had left my debit card loose in Elle's diaper bag so I ran out (with her) to get it out of my car. Once was in the car and looking for it, I hear a women say "Did you see this". I look in the back seat and she has her had through what used to be my window. There was glass all over Elle's carseat and floor board. I was so confused and it took me a minute to realize my car had been broken into. I had been in the store for literally 10 minuts and it was 2 in the afternoon. Not to mention my car was right in front of the store window. UNBELIEVABLE! They took my phone, sunglasses, and a bag that had a pair of my favorite shoes in it. I had them in there b/c I had just been at the taylor getting some pants taken up. But, they did not take E's diaper bag which had my debit card in it. And I am so glad we were not confronted or hurt in any way. So, I have filed a report but know there is nothing they can do. I am hoping to get a new phone tomorrow and take my car in to get the window fixed.
That was a novel.....Sorry about that :)
